Ajay Badal & Swathi Y: The Duo Turning Waste Into Clean, Engineered Fuel for India
Share this story
Dew Resource Management Pvt. Ltd. began not as a business idea, but as a realization, that India’s mountains of dry waste and the cement industry’s heavy dependence on coal could no longer coexist. From Uttar Pradesh, co-founders Mr. Ajay Badal and Mrs. Swathi Y saw this problem up close through their years in the cement and waste management industries. With strong academic foundations in Chemical Engineering (IIT Bombay, HBTI Kanpur, UDCT Mumbai, JNTU Hyderabad), they recognised that India didn’t just need better waste disposal, it needed a new kind of fuel. And so, they built Dew Resource Management, a company designed to turn dry MSW and industrial waste into high-quality engineered fuel, offering industries a cleaner, scalable and cost-effective alternative to coal and petcoke.

What makes this founding duo extraordinary is the perfect blend of strengths they bring. Mrs. Swathi, with 12+ years of experience in cement operations, became the backbone of DRM’s plant processes, overseeing production, fuel quality, flow design and daily operations at their dedicated 100 TPD facility in Muzaffarnagar. Mr. Ajay, with deep experience in AFR, supply chain, and business development, became the strategic force, building partnerships with cement industries, shaping supply chains, and driving market expansion. Together, they engineered multiple grades of high-calorific, low-ash, odour-free fuel capable of replacing up to 80% of coal in industrial systems. Their work doesn’t just divert waste from landfills, it reduces CO₂ emissions, prevents open dumping, and strengthens India’s circular economy.
At DPurpose Foundation, we were proud to support Dew Resource Management through our Waste2Purpose event, where the best waste-tech innovators were brought together with government leaders, industry experts, and investors. DRMPL’s solution immediately stood out for its technical depth and environmental value. We facilitated investor reviews, organised detailed technical discussions over Google Meet, and enabled Ajay and Swathi to pitch their idea live at the event to decision-makers across the sustainability ecosystem. The investors showed strong interest and recognised the commercial and environmental viability of their system, leading to continued internal evaluations and the next steps toward funding support.
Dew Resource Management is proof that true sustainability is born at the intersection of innovation and responsibility. Their work is reshaping how industries consume fuel, demonstrating that engineered alternatives can replace traditional energy sources without compromising performance. At DPurpose Foundation, we value and celebrate innovators like Ajay and Swathi, individuals who are not just addressing pollution, but redefining the future of energy. Their journey inspires us, and we look forward to supporting their mission as they scale their impact across India.
