Anbarasan: Transforming non-recycling plastic waste into Tomorrow's Clean Fuel
Share this story
Anbarsan’s journey began in 2018, when this Petrochemical Engineering graduate from Paramakudi, now Director of HVA Energy Solutions and ARIMA Global Solutions, noticed a contradiction the world was ignoring. Though electric vehicles have reduced pollution by 2-4 in ten years compared to petrol vehicles, industries still release nearly 8 tons of toxic waste in the air every single day. Add this to the rising demand for traditional fuels, wood, coal, briquettes, causing rapid deforestation, and it was clear that a scalable alternative was needed. That urgency led him to create Poly Solid Fuels (PSF), a clean industrial fuel made from plastic waste, without producing toxic byproducts. Today, PSF has scaled to a minimum 10,000 tons/day, proving that when innovation meets responsibility, waste can power a cleaner future.

Anbarsan realised that solving pollution at scale required looking beyond automobiles and confronting the real blind spot, industrial waste and fuel consumption. Every day, he saw mountains of plastic waste being dumped, while industries burned massive amounts of fuel made from trees, coal, and briquettes. The imbalance was impossible to ignore. As long as industries demanded thousands of tons of fuel, emissions would rise and forests would continue to disappear. Poly Solid Fuels (PSF) became his solution: plastic waste transformed into a clean, non-toxic industrial fuel. With PSF, industries reduced their fuel consumption from 1 ton wood equal to just 200 kg, highest GCV 6000kcal/kg- 12000kcal/kg, lowering costs, eliminating toxic residues, and preventing deforestation. Even the final byproduct is repurposed into a valuable resource thus closing the loop and embracing true circularity.
At DPurpose Foundation, we were proud to have HVA Energy Solutions as one of the first shortlisted teams at our Waste2Purpose event, selected to pitch at Pitch4Purpose for their breakthrough innovation. During the pitching itself, investors were so impressed that they immediately brought in their technical expert for evaluation and proceeded into a second round of discussions with Anbarsan’s team on the very same day. This was followed by a formal continuation of the second-round investment dialogue soon after, marking strong traction for HVA’s growth. Alongside this, we also opened CSR access for him, recognising his urgent need for production expansion and supporting him in securing the right pathways to scale.
For Anbarsan, the purpose is simple yet monumental: to eliminate global pollutants, stop deforestation, and build fuel alternatives with a true end-life, no recycling loops, no leftover toxins, no environmental burden. He believes solutions must be designed for the next generation, not as temporary fixes but as long-lasting answers to the earth’s biggest crises. Through HVA Energy Solutions, he is shaping a future where industries can grow without harming the planet. His work supports plastic waste disposal initiatives for the Ministry of Defence Cantonment Board (Chennai), Government of India, the District Rural Development Agencies of Tamil Nadu, and multiple municipalities and corporations. With state and national awards recognising his innovation, Anbarsan stands as a reminder that when purpose and science come together, transformation is not just possible, it is inevitable.
