Bherev Jain: Building REPROC - Turning Plastic Waste into Sustainable Roofing & Boards
Share this story
Bherev Jain from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, is a young founder who turned a moment of awakening into a mission that now shapes his life’s work. After completing his BBM IS degree, he was preparing to take over his family’s plywood roofing business, but a visit to a large plywood factory changed his path forever. Standing before stacks of trees cut down for roofing sheets, he felt a discomfort that he could not ignore, the realisation that every product came at the cost of deforestation. That moment pushed him to rethink the legacy he wanted to build, inspiring him to create Reproc, a startup that transforms plastic waste into sustainable boards and rooftop sheets, proving that innovation and responsibility can coexist and redefine an entire industry.
If you have an idea, trust it. Don’t chase funding or worry about profit — move with conviction, and the journey will take you forward.![]()
Reproc was created with a powerful mission: transforming India’s massive plastic waste, nearly 60 million tons, into durable, weather-resistant boards and roofing sheets that can replace plywood without cutting down a single tree. Bherev built Reproc on a simple idea with huge impact: take the plastic that harms our land, recycle it into long-life construction materials, and eliminate deforestation at its root. Every sheet produced by Reproc saves multiple trees, reduces landfill waste, and offers a stronger, water-proof, termite-proof alternative to conventional plywood. For Bherev, sustainability isn’t a trend, it’s a responsibility. He believes that when action starts at home, it can save a village; when a village shifts, it transforms a country; and when a country adapts, it heals the earth. In a market where awareness and acceptance were major challenges, he persisted with consistency, education, and purpose. Today, Reproc stands as a reminder that revolutionary change often begins with one person choosing a different path and refusing to let waste stay wasted.
At DPurpose Foundation, we were proud to have Reproc as one of the top-selected teams at Pitch4Purpose, showcasing their innovation on a platform built to accelerate climate solutions. Their participation at our Waste2Purpose event didn’t just create visibility, it led to real progress. Multiple investors moved forward into the next round of discussions, recognising the strength of Reproc’s product and the depth of its environmental impact. They offered strategic insights on scaling, market penetration, and product positioning, and several scheduled follow-up meetings to explore serious collaboration. For us, seeing Reproc advance from promise to momentum reaffirmed our belief in building spaces where purpose-driven innovators gain the breakthroughs they truly deserve.
Every purpose-led journey comes with obstacles, and for Reproc, the biggest was shifting mindsets, encouraging people to choose sustainable, plastic-based boards over familiar plywood. Collecting and segregating waste across regions required grit, consistency, and a belief in long-term change. But through persistence, Bherev and his team turned challenges into momentum. Today, Reproc doesn’t just recycle plastic; it reduces deforestation, cuts carbon impact, and proves that innovation can heal the planet. For us at DPurpose, witnessing Reproc’s growth reminds us why we champion founders who build for the earth, because when responsibility becomes action, real impact begins.
