Drashti’s Journey: From Village Visionary to Sustainable Brand Builder
Share this story
Drashti grew up in a small village near Bhavnagar, Gujarat, in a humble household where her father worked as a farmer and her mother managed the home. A Bachelor of Science in Microbiology student at Gyan Vande Bharat University, Drashti was deeply inspired by her surroundings and driven by a desire to tackle local environmental issues. With her mother’s encouragement and a passion for sustainability, Drashti founded ShellQ, a venture that turns discarded coconut shells into eco-friendly products like bowls, candles, and wine glasses. Facing societal restrictions and limited resources, she pushed ahead with the help of mentorship and family support, working to build ShellQ into a meaningful alternative to plastic-based goods.
Finding a solution was just the beginning — turning it into something people understand, value, and choose over plastic is the real challenge.

This is where DPurpose stepped in to make a real difference. Through our structured MVP training and consistent guidance, we supported Drashti in transforming ShellQ from a promising idea into a viable business. She learned how to price her products, identify market needs, and communicate the value of eco-friendly alternatives effectively. We also helped her strategize for exhibitions and connect with early adopters who believed in her mission. The shift from handcrafted items at home to receiving bulk orders marked a turning point in her entrepreneurial journey.
Today, ShellQ is steadily growing, with Drashti balancing academics and business while continuing to fulfill orders and explore better packaging solutions. Her venture not only reduces waste but also promotes conscious consumerism in her community. The transformation from a hesitant student to a confident solo founder is a testament to the impact of mentorship, training, and a clear vision. With continued support and increasing awareness about sustainability, Drashti is on her way to building a recognized eco-brand that makes a real difference.
Drashti’s story reflects how determination combined with the right ecosystem can break barriers. From facing social restrictions and resource limitations to being called the “businesswoman” of her class, she is reshaping perceptions around rural women in innovation. Her next goal is to scale ShellQ, collaborate with environmental organizations, and expand her product range, turning local waste into global impact.
