Opening Doors: A First Look into Real-World Innovation Ecosystems
Share this story
Climafix Summit 2025, India’s largest climate startup gathering held on September 10-11 at IITM Research Park, became a meaningful milestone for DPurpose Foundation. As ecosystem partners, we stepped into a space buzzing with over 400+ climate-tech startups, 150+ investors, and 300+ industry experts, all under one roof. Along with our role at the summit, we also brought more than 40 delegates from leading companies like Hindustan Unilever Limited and Pondy Oxides and Chemicals Ltd (POCL), ensuring that industry voices and climate-focused innovators came together for collaboration and dialogue.
Exposure doesn’t just broaden minds — it builds future innovators.![]()
A defining highlight for us was the presence of four student volunteers from Chennai Institute of Technology, Kavin (ECE), Kesav (IT), and Surya & Bharath (CSE), all in their second year. As part of their entrepreneurship course, where DPurpose Foundation serves as a mentoring partner, we wanted them to experience what real-world innovation feels like beyond the classroom. Over two inspiring days, they worked as a cohesive team, greeting guests, coordinating activities, managing responsibilities, and most importantly, learning how to engage with people from diverse sectors. Their interactions with founders, industry leaders, and investors gave them a firsthand understanding of networking, entrepreneurial thinking, and climate-sustainable technologies. They also attended powerful climate and entrepreneurship sessions that opened their eyes to emerging technologies, real challenges, and opportunities in the climate innovation space. Inspired by these connections, Kavin later invited several speakers he met at Climafix to his college, helping bring real-world climate insights to his campus.
Another proud moment for DPurpose Foundation was seeing two young talents from our ecosystem shine on the Climafix stage in their own powerful ways. Ecofungi, one of the top student-led teams from our Hack4Purpose 1st Batch, was represented by founder Pragdeesh, who stepped into the summit with a delegate pass facilitated by us. He met investors, pitched his climate innovation with confidence, and gained exposure to industry experts who offered guidance for scaling his idea. Alongside him, Ms. Nevetha, a gifted 3rd-year Visual Communication student from Stella Mary’s, captured the event through her lens with remarkable clarity and creativity, proving how talent flourishes when given the right platform. Watching both a student innovator and a student creator grow, network, and contribute meaningfully reminded us why empowering young voices remains at the heart of DPurpose’s mission.
For DPurpose Foundation, Climafix 2025 became a space where possibilities expanded for students like Kavin, Kesav, Surya, Bharath, and Pragdeesh, giving them exposure they had never experienced before. Through real interactions with industry leaders, investors, and innovators, they began building networks, confidence, and a deeper curiosity for climate entrepreneurship. The experience reaffirmed our belief that when young people are placed in real-world ecosystems, they don’t just observe, they grow, adapt, and rise with purpose. At DPurpose, nurturing student-led innovation and opening pathways for meaningful learning continues to be at the heart of what we do.
